Senryu

Retail goes bonkers
Holiday shoppers descend
Black Friday harvests

Despite known danger
Sought he forbidden power
His soul harvested

Two hearts beat as one
A harvest of love and joy
Eternity theirs

Though time must now end
We're together, you and I
No more could I want

Senryu

Senryu is a Japanese poetry form similar to Haiku with three lines of five, seven, and five syllables reflecting some aspect of human nature.  I've written several of these poems in the mistaken belief that I was writing Haiku.  Now I realize that they are more aptly Senryu forms.

Breath catches, soft lips
Tease and torture, drawing gasps
Sweet pain, sweet release

Scent on the pillow
He tensed, aching for her touch
Memory lingered
Passionate kisses
Excite and entice, tongues join
And the dance begins

 I follow my heart
Over the threshold and home
Straight into her arms

I feel it within
I know where it is, with you
Anywhere is home
